Fenrhir — A Streamer's Official Site

What I built

Fenrhir is a gaming content creator with channels on Kick, Twitch and YouTube. I designed and built his official site: the place where his audience finds everything in one spot.

The problem

A creator with several channels lives scattered. His audience was in four different places and none of them were his: every platform lends him the space and sets the rules.

The brief had two demands that usually fight each other.

First: it had to look striking. This is a gaming channel, not a law firm; a tasteful, restrained site would have been a failure.

Second: it had to be genuinely his, and that includes being able to write on it. A blog is useless if publishing a post means messaging me and waiting.

How I solved it

First, make it look like him. The site runs on a dark background, heavy type and animation that responds as you scroll. That’s the point: it says the same thing his content says before the visitor reads a single word.

Without giving up speed. A visually heavy site usually pays for it in load time, and most of his audience arrives on a phone. I worked the weight of every page so the spectacle wouldn’t cost him visitors.

Let him publish without asking anyone. I set him up with an editor where he writes posts like in a word processor: type, drop in an image, publish. The first version I tried was too technical for someone who doesn’t code, so I swapped it for a simpler one. That second decision is why the blog is still alive today.

The numbers keep themselves current. His followers and latest videos show up updated without anyone typing them in. A stale figure on the homepage ages a site faster than any design detail.

The result

Fenrhir has a home of his own that brings together his channels, his videos, his store and his blog, with his identity and nobody else’s rules. And he runs it himself.

I designed and developed all of it, from the first screen to the last detail.
